Prayers for healing and wholeness

Praying for ourselves and others

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,9 NIV)

“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.”
(James 5:13-15 NIV)

“Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.””
(Matthew 11: 4,5 NIV)

God of healing,
God of wholeness,
we bring our brokenness
our sinfulness
our fears
and despair
and lay them at your feet.

God of healing,
God of wholeness,
we reach out
hearts and hands
minds and souls
to feel your touch
and know the peace
that only you can bring.

God of healing,
God of wholeness,
in your presence
and power
grant us faith
and confidence
that here broken lives
are made whole.

True healing is more
than restoration
of flesh and blood,
or knitting of bone to bone.
True healing is wholeness,
where body, soul and spirit unite.
True healing is peace,
the knowledge of God’s presence,
a hope that knows no end.
True healing cries ‘Father,
not my will but yours.’
True healing knows love
perfectly,
a love that casts out fear.
True healing overcomes,
endures,
for eternity.

I bring to you my body,
muscle and sinew,
artery and vein.
bone and joint,
the miracle that is me.
I bring to you my brokenness,
and ask for healing
restoration
freedom to be
the person I could be.

Today
and all days
embrace us in a love that knows no end.
Today
and all days
fill us with a power that overcomes.
Today
and all days
encourage us with a word that nourishes.
Today
and all days
inspire us with a hope that sustains.
Today
and all days
comfort us with a peace that endures.
Today
and all days
bring wholeness of body, mind and spirit
Today
and all days

My heart is heavy, Lord
a sadness pervades my soul.
Draw close at this time,
be the shoulder I lean on,
the strength I depend on.

Bless these aching bones
and put them to your service,
Take these feeble words
and give to them a boldness
Accept the little I can do
and let it be my witness.

At the dawning of this new day
let it begin with you,
our Saviour and redeemer.
In our weakness
be our strength.
In our stumbling
be our guide.
In our brokenness
be our healing.
In our darkness
be our light,
at the dawning of this
and every new day.

At the closing of this new day,
let it end with you,
our life and our Salvation.
In our anxiety
be our peace.
In our doubting
be our truth.
In our pain
be our comfort.
In our restlessness
be our sleep,
at the closing of this
and every new day.

Grant me the faith
that can move mountains,
the mustard seed
sown in hope
with certainty
of fruitfulness.

Grant me the faith
that can ask for healing,
with confidence
in your love,
compassion
and power.

Grant me the faith
to accept the outcome,
with serenity,
as your will
for this prayer
and this life

For all agents of healing we thank you.
For the truly miraculous, for doctors and nurses,
For friends who pray with actions as well as words,
For the peace that comes from knowing
your presence throughout our suffering,
For the knowledge that you bring wholeness
in this world and throughout eternity.

Like bees to nectar
you draw us to yourself,
the sweetness of your love
bringing healing,
comfort and peace;
the power of your love
transforming hearts,
souls and lives.
Spirit of love and power,
touch our lives
with sweetness
and grace,
touch our hearts
with healing
and peace.

Take this body, Lord
with all its imperfections
and use it in your service.
May the aches and pains I feel
be the start of conversations
about a God who makes us whole.
May the struggles that I face
enable me to share with others
about a God who gives to all.
May the little I can offer
say more about your sacrifice
and less about my role.
Take this body, Lord
with all its imperfections
and use it in your service.

For all who strive for greater understanding
about causes of disease, bless their research.
For all who are involved in the discovery of new
drugs and treatment regimes, bless their efforts.
For all who dedicate their lives to the care
of those who are ill, bless their commitment.
For all those who pray regularly for those
who are unwell, bless their faith and service.
What does it matter
if you heal through
supernatural power
or surgeon’s hand?

There are scars
seen and unseen
in my life.
There is pain
inside and out
I confess.
There is need
for wholeness
and peace.
There is room
for healing
and grace.

For those weighed down by ill health
bring wholeness to body, mind and spirit.
For those weighed down by worry
bring wisdom, peace and reassurance.
For those weighed down by fear
bring freedom, release and liberation.
For those weighed down by sadness
bring comfort, strength and joy.
For all whose hearts are troubled
at the start of this new day
be the voice that they hear
the warmth that they feel
the wisdom they seek
the strength they require
and the one in whose arms they rest

Bless the hands
that bring wholeness
to lives blighted by sickness.

Bless the saints who
in sad and desperate places
bring a sense of hopefulness.

Bless the Christians
facing daily opposition
showing a faithful witness.

Bless the generosity
of the rich and powerful
for the gift of thoughtfulness.

Bless the peacemakers
working in conditions
that are often hazardous.

Bless the politicians
whether good or bad
for decisions affecting all of us.

Bless our words and actions
as we carry your light
into places shrouded in darkness.

Bless your children
whoever they might be
with the warmth of your love and grace.

I bring to you (name)
a child of yours
in need of comfort
healing and peace.
I leave them now
resting in love
immersed in your grace.

Bless those who are healers
of mind and body.
Surgeons, doctors
nurses, psychiatrists,
all whose lives
are dedicated
to bringing wholeness.

Lord, we bring to
the unspoken prayers;
our regular struggles
with health and life,
discrimination, anger,
anguish, faith, and fear,
that for many reasons
we have held onto
and may be invisible
to those who know us,
but eat into our hearts.
In this precious moment
we bring them, Lord, to you.

Healing God, we pray for all
struggling with serious illness
and afraid of losing the fight.
Be their comfort and strength
in the battle today, along with
the doctors and nursing staff
working around the world
and the clock, giving their all
and their God-given talents
so that others might have life.
Healing God, bless them all.

Bring healing Lord, we pray,
to those who, at present,
are burdened with anxiety,
isolation, stress, depression;
those states of mind that
sometimes can be invisible,
but to the sufferer affects
every moment of their life.
Bring to them your peace,
and open our eyes, we pray,
that we might be there
whether friend or stranger
needs someone to listen,
support and bring your light
into the darkness of their day.

Bless those who are carers
to those in need.
Parents, guardians,
children, adults
all whose lives
are dedicated
to loving service.

Bless those who are prayers
where there is need.
The silent warriors
who love your children
and whose lives
are dedicated
to your kingdom.

I may not be healed
but I shall be made whole
if not in this life
then in eternity
