Liturgy - Raised with Christ

'Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.' Col 3:1

All: Father God, be with us in our worship, in our prayers and in our reading of your word. Be with us in our fellowship one with another. Be with us in our agreement and disagreement. Be with us in our unity and diversity. Be with us as we grow together, born again and joined together into your heavenly family.

For God so loved the world
All: That he gave his one and only Son
That whoever believes in him shall not perish
All: But have eternal life

'Set your minds on things above, and not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.' Col 3:3

For those times when our eyes have been short-sighted, when we have failed to see your vision for our lives
All: Help us focus on you

For those times when we choose not to give but to store up treasures for our own use. When we lose sight of our own worth.
All: Help us focus on you

For those times when your sacrificial love has meant less than it should
All: Help us focus on you

For those times when our feet have stayed firmly in this world, rather than walking in your footsteps
All: Help us focus on you

For all those times when we have failed to acknowledge in our own hearts that we are a new creation, raised to life with Christ
All: Father, forgive

'Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself
with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with
each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And above all this put on love
All: Which binds all these in perfect unity.'

Let us share a time of quiet reflection, bringing to the feet of our God the prayers of our hearts and the remembrance of our own awakening to spiritual life with Christ.
(Silence)

Let's share in the pattern of prayer that Jesus taught his disciples...
All: Our Father.....

O Lord open our lips
All: And our mouths will declare your praise.

O Lord you do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not delight in burnt offerings
All: The sacrifices of God are a humble spirit. He will not reject a humble and repentant heart

Gracious and loving Father, in accepting your call on our lives, we left self behind and took on the new mantle of your sacrificial love.
All: Together we share in your sacrifice and the resurrection life of Jesus

In doing so we acknowledged your supreme act of love in giving your Son to this world, and also our share of mankind's guilt in the cross.
All: Together we share in your sacrifice and the resurrection life of Jesus

We looked from the sorrow of Good Friday to the joy of Easter and the promise of the Resurrection. We now share together in that promise and look forward with anticipation to spending an eternity in your presence.
God of sacrifice and love
All: Together we share in your sacrifice and the resurrection life of Jesus

Amen
